Community Spotlight: Lakewood Ranch Community Fund Giving Circle Holds Grant Distribution Event

Posted

LAKEWOOD RANCH – Sisterhood For Good, a donor-advised fund of the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund, held its second-annual grant distribution event on May 22, 2014, at the office of Monarch Asset Management in Sarasota. The gathering brought together nearly 30 local women leaders, who chose Junior Achievement Sarasota-Manatee and We Care Manatee as the beneficiaries of the giving circle’s collected funds. Both organizations will receive $500 to use toward programs that benefit our community.

For Junior Achievement Sarasota-Manatee, the received funds will help send 25 local students to Junior Achievement’s educational, life-enriching programs. The funds given to We Care Manatee will provide up to four free mammograms for local uninsured women.

Each year, the women of the group assemble to discuss the varying needs of our community and vote on grant distribution. This year’s event was hosted by Deb Smith and Kelly Zeitz of Monarch Asset Management and featured a number of prize drawings, including a Kate Spade designer purse, an iPad Mini and case, a freshwater pearl necklace by Barb McSweeny Jewelry, and a Stella Artois picnic gift basket, among others. Grapevine Communications Advertising Agency, Monarch Asset Management, Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, Barb McSweeny Jewelry, and It Works!® sponsored the event.

“Our annual grant distribution event is a great way for the women of Sisterhood For Good to meet-up, mingle, and support the community we love so much,” said Angela Massaro-Fain, founding donor of Sisterhood for Good Fund-Women’s Giving Circle and president of Grapevine Communications Advertising Agency. “Being a part of a giving circle allows us to make a real difference for the causes close to our hearts through a channel that’s both practical and reasonably affordable.”

In 2013, Sisterhood For Good voted to distribute funds to Hope Family Services, Inc. and Samaritan Counseling Services of the Gulf Coast.
