BRADENTON – Manatee Habitat has been selected as one of twelve Legacy of Valor organizations to receive matching funds during a month-long giving campaign for the Habitat Veteran Build program. From October 15th through November 15th, online donations from $25 up to $1000 made to the Manatee Habitat Veteran Build program will be matched dollar for dollar. Donations can be made at manateehabitat.org.

The Veteran Repair project uses Habitat volunteers to provide critical home repairs services to local Veterans like Sergeant First Class Anthony Driscoll, a 26 year veteran of the army who served both in Afghanistan and Iraq. Getting help with repairs has been a challenge for Scott whose injuries have kept him from being able to work on his own home. At first Driscoll and his wife were skeptical of the help being offered them through the Veteran Repair program. "There are so many organizations out there that say they help veterans," Driscoll says. "We have truly been blessed to find one of the few that actually stand behind what they say." Habitat volunteers have begun work on the Driscoll home to repair a portion of the roof and expect to have the work completed by mid-November.
