BRADENTON – South Florida Museum will celebrate its 65th year in 2013 with the 65th Anniversary exhibition: South Florida Museum at Sixty Five: A Window to the World. This
exhibition celebrates the Museum’s history as a community institution over the past 65 years. Established by members of the Manatee County community, South Florida Museum is a cultural anchor in our region. The exhibition illustrates the changes and additions to South Florida Museum creating the place where we fulfill our mission every day: engaging and inspiring learners of all ages; we protect, interpret and communicate scientific and cultural knowledge of Florida, the world, and our universe. Come experience this exciting opportunity to experience South Florida Museum as we continue to be a window to the world.
This exhibition will feature a collection of photographs, artifacts and living coral as an interpretation of our past, present and future.
The exhibition reception will be at South Florida Museum on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Museum members are free, nonmember and guest admission is $5. About the South Florida Museum
The South Florida Museum is the largest natural and cultural history museum on Florida’s Gulf Coast, featuring engaging exhibits as well as educational programs which interpret the scientific and cultural knowledge of Florida, the world and our universe. The facility includes the all-digital Bishop Planetarium and Parker Manatee Aquarium which is home to Snooty™ the manatee.
The South Florida Museum is located at 201 10th Street West in downtown Bradenton. Current operating hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sundays, noon - 5 p.m. During the month of July, operating hours are Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sundays, noon - 5 p.m. Regular General Admission is $15.95 for adults, $13.95 for seniors (65 and over), $11.95 for children (ages 4-12).
