Community Spotlight: Two Coastal Orthopedics' Doctors Named Top Doctors of 2013

BRADENTON -- Dr. Arthur L.Valadie and Dr. Steven J. Schafer of Coastal Orthopedics have been named to Castle Connolly's list of Top Doctors of 2013 for orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. 

Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a healthcare research and information company, carefully chose the winners of each category following nominations from physician peers. Winners were chosen by a physician-led team and based on criteria including their medical education, training, hospital appointments, disciplinary histories and more. 

This year marks Dr. Arthur Valadie's second consecutive year to make the sought-after list as a "Top Doctor" in the category of orthopedics. Dr. Valadie specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy, knee reconstruction and total joint replacement. He is also a sports medicine physician to the Pittsburgh Pirates, U.S. Soccer Team, IMG Academies and the State College of Florida.

Dr. Steven Schafer was also named "Top Doctor" in the category of sports medicine. Dr Schafer specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy and knee reconstruction.  He completed his fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the world-renowned American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama.  He is also a treating physician to the Pittsburgh Pirates, U.S. Soccer Team, IMG Academies and State College of Florida as a sports medicine physician. 

Castle Connolly identifies the top doctors in America and releases a list annually to provide consumers in different regions with detailed information about the best doctors in their areas. The information is listed on the Castle Connolly website along with other online directories, paperback guides, and national and regional "Top Doctors" features.
