Community Spotlight: White Party Helps Food Bank of Manatee White Out Hunger

BRADENTON – On June 5, 2014, over 150 people gathered to support The Food Bank of Manatee at its 2^nd Annual White Party. Held at the picturesque home of David Scherer and Chris Whittaker, guests enjoyed elaborate and delicious cuisine catered by Renaissance on 9th, enticing raffles, and a beautiful sunset view.  

This year’s White Party raised over $6,500, an increase from the previous year. “We are so grateful for our hosts, guests, volunteers and staff for making this event a success. This was a great way to kick off The Food Bank of Manatee’s White Out Hunger campaign and helps us get ahead of the increased demand during the summer,” says Maribeth Phillips, CEO of Meals on Wheels PLUS. 

In an effort to keep Food Bank shelves stocked during busy summer months, Manatee County leaders are asking local busi­nesses, civic and faith-based organizations, networking groups, communities and clubs to help White Out Hungerby collecting 1,000 pounds of food or raising $1,000 or a combination of the two during June.
