SARASOTA -- Most Rev. Frank J. Dewane, Bishop of the Diocese of Venice, will celebrate the annual Veterans Day Mass at 3:00 p.m., Nov. 11, 2012, at the Sarasota National Cemetery (9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 map) in honor of the men and women who have served our country and continue to serve today. The Mass is also an opportunity to pray for all who are are laid to rest at the Sarasota National Cemetery.
“As Bishop of the Diocese of Venice, it is an honor to celebrate a special Mass for the men and women, living and deceased, who have fought defending our country and our rights, including our right to religious freedom, and for all members of our Armed Forces serving today,” Bishop Dewane said.
All are welcome to attend. Active military personnel are asked to wear their uniforms for the occasion. Priests from throughout the Diocese of Venice will be concelebrating the Mass. The Mass is being coordinated by the Diocese of Venice with special assistance from the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, some of which are military veterans.
The Sarasota National Cemetery is located approximately five miles east of Interstate 75 (Exit 205) on State Road 72 (Clark Road). To park, guests are asked to park at Twin Lakes Park, where shuttle buses will drive all attendees. Twin Lakes Park is half a mile down State Road 72 (Clark Road) off Exit 205. General parking will not be available at the cemetery.
