Council Corner: Josh Cramer: Ward 3

Posted

My wife and I have been fortunate to tour the country both last summer and this one. As we approach the halfway point of this year's journey, we are now headed back east ... slowly.

We've hit six National Parks, several historic landmarks, and finally made it to the Four Corners. We also got to see the Florida State Seminoles play in the Women's College World Series en route to their runner-up finish!

The second half of this trip will be spent primarily with family and friends, somehow sprinkling in six more National Parks and maybe a little golf, too? Regardless - whatever you get to do this summer, I hope you're able to see some sights, spend time with those you love, and recharge and refresh your soul.

Meanwhile, back in Bradenton ... we say congratulations to two women transitioning in their careers - I have the honor of calling these women not only colleagues, but friends. First, today is Tara Poulton's last day with the Manatee Chamber of Commerce. She isn't going too far, though, as she will be working for Congressman Vern Buchanan as his District Director. Tara has been instrumental with helping the Chamber galvanize Manatee's government and business leaders toward a better County. Her passion for good governance is definitely the Congressman's gain. Congratulations, Tara!

Last, Dr. Janet Pullen is retiring from Saint Stephen's Episcopal School on June 30 after 35 years of service. She began as the Lower School Director before eventually spending the vast majority of her tenure as Head of School. Her vision and hands-on approach have helped the school mold the lives and future of thousands of students, their families, the faculty - and in turn, our community. Congratulations, Jan, on a wonderful, meaningful career and enjoy your retirement.

From somewhere in America,
