Council Corner: Pam Coachman, Ward Five

Hello, dog days of summer, and goodbye to the end of another school term! Please watch out for the increase in children being outside during normal school hours - they are definitely ready for the free time coming, and they could dart out into traffic.

Also, please remember to be careful of extreme heat exposure. Stay hydrated and seek out shade when possible. Soon, hurricane season will be upon us again. It is time to prepare and stock up with the essentials needed should we encounter loss of power, quality of drinking water, and the array of inconveniences a strong storm can bring.

As the closing of school approaches, there are many holidays to celebrate. Mother s and Father s Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and a few others. Let s not forget this year s Juneteenth Celebration Parade/Walk on June 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., beginning at East Bradenton Park, 1119 13th St. East and going to the 13th Avenue Dream Center, 922 24th Street East.

This is a great time to celebrate together. Let s all have a wonderful summer. Stay safe and continue to make Bradenton the ""Friendly City""!
