BRADENTON — During a second budget hearing held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Manatee County Commission approved the adoption of an FY24-25 gross budget totaling $3.2 billion, including a .15 millage rate reduction.

The approved annual gross budget represents an increase of roughly $342 million over the last fiscal year's adopted budget, which was approved at roughly $2.9 billion gross. The net budget for FY25 is $1,328,221,815.

Manatee County also approves the budgets of constitutional offices. The Manatee County Sheriff’s budget has been approved to receive a 20% increase in FY25, for a total budget of $235.1 million. This increase will go toward creating 61 new personnel positions and to apply increases to existing salaries.

Does the HR budget include KVO’s buddy’s HR company as a third party? Does anyone know the status of that “contract?”

Every year, the Sheriff gets double digit increases - no questions asked. 20% this year is ridiculous. Does any other office or department get such huge increases year after year after year? I would love to see The Bradenton Times report on the history of increased Sheriff Dept budget and spending.
