County Legal Notices to Shift from Newspaper to Website

Staff Report
BRADENTON – In 2022, the Florida Legislature passed HB 7049, which revised the requirements pertaining to the publication of legal notices. When it goes into effect on Jan. 1, the new law allows the publication of legal notices on a government agency-accessible website instead of a local newspaper.
Staff explained that making the change would reduce the $600 Development Review Fee to a "small administrative fee" while saving county staff about 20 hours per week. There will be a direct link on the county website homepage and the database will be searchable.
This will require an amendment to Chapter 3 of the county's land development code, which is scheduled to go before the planning commission on 12/8 and then back to the BOCC on 12/15.
