County Planning Commission Elects Officers for 2011

MANATEE--Richard Bedford was re-elected as chairman of the Manatee County Planning Commission at Thursday's regular meeting in county chambers. Mr. Bedford has served on the commission since 1992.

The Planning Commission also re-elected David Wick as 1st Vice-Chairman and Steve Belack as 2nd Vice-Chairman during the final meeting of 2010. Terms begin January 1, 2011.

Richard Bedford is President of his own architecture and design company and holds licenses as both an architect and contractor specializing in design/build projects.

Newly appointed commission member John Delesline was sworn in at the beginning of Thursday's meeting.

The Planning Commission was established to act as the Local Planning Agency by Florida Statute to carry out such duties prescribed by the Comprehensive Plan, to hold and regulate public hearings zoning ordinances and development applications. The planning commission then makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on adoption or rejection. The Manatee County Planning Commission consists of seven voting members who are appointed by the BCC for four year terms.

Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m. or as needed at the Manatee County Administrative Center in the Chambers.


Current Planning Commission members are: Richard Bedford, Steve Belack, George Mendez, Marilyn Stasica, David Wick, Timothy Rhoades and John Delesline
