Brandenton, Florida - Cynthia Yvonne "Buddy" Newell passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, in Atlanta, GA, at the age of 73. Born on July 1, 1951, in Bradenton, Cynthia was the youngest of five children of the late Eddie Mae (Carter) Newell and James Newell. Born in Bradenton, Florida, Cynthia was the youngest of five children of the late Eddie Mae (Carter) Newell and James Newell. A proud graduate of Southeast High School, Cynthia went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Morris Brown College and a master's degree from the Harvard Kennedy School. Her dedication to public service led to a distinguished career as a nonprofit leader and Kellogg National Fellow. Cynthia's work focused on advancing equity for women, families, and underserved communities, leaving a lasting impact through their tireless advocacy.
A Victory Celebration honoring Cynthia's life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Champions Life International Church in Ruskin, Florida.
