David F. Kelly
Bradenton, FL
"Loving husband, father, grandfather and brother"
David F. Kelly, age 74, of Bradenton FL, passed away in the arms of his forever-love on June 10, 2025. He was born in Waterbury, CT, the 5th son of Thomas and Mary (Fratangelo) Kelly.
He graduated from the W.F. Kaynor Technical High School Carpentry Program in 1969, and spent 10 years in the building trade, before being hired back to Kaynor Tech as a Carpentry Instructor. There he spent 25 years devoted to teaching, mentoring, and guiding high school students, and adults in the Continuing-Ed Program, where he is credited with helping launch many successful careers in the carpentry and building trade.
David also served in the CT Army National Guard during the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He retired to FL to pursue his passions of cooking, baking, camping, lounging by his pool, and soaking up the sun on Siesta Key beach. He also frequented his son's home in Idaho where he loved to go fishing and boating in the Rocky Mountain lakes.
David is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Josephine Mary (Baranoski); their son David and his wife Lonnie; his two beautiful grandchildren, Logan and Sawyer, whom he adored more than life; and his siblings Thomas, Ronald, John, and Mary. David was predeceased by his parents, and his brother George.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury CT, on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 from 2-5 p.m. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be presented at 4:00 p.m.
David was the patriarch of his family, a constant source of steady calm, unconditional love, and a masterful swing of the hammer. His smile, his laugh, and his fresh-baked bread will be forever missed by all, but his legacy of knowledge, wisdom, and compassion will live on in his family, and in the lives of the many students he inspired.
