De Soto Fishing Tourney to Include Spearfishing!

Posted
SNEAD ISLAND -- The ancient art of spearfishing has once again become a popular pastime as competitive fishermen try to outdo one another in this extremely challenging class. This weekend, local anglers can glimpse the sport up close and personal.

While following this event might normally require a trip to hotbeds like the northern islands of New Zealand, the Great Barrier Reef or the deepwater fishing grounds off Cape Point near Cape Town, South Africa, this year the De Soto Society is bringing it to you!

The 15th Annual Hernando DeSoto Historical Society Fishing Tournament, this weekend at the Bradenton Yacht Club will include not only its first spearfishing event, but the first ever in the local area. The event is brought to you by John Falcone and the guys at Scuba Quest. Get out to the BYC and check out this and all of the fishing action this weekend at what's sure to be a one of a kind fishing event.
