Dennis Paul Farrell, 76, passed away after a long illness on June 7, 2024, at home. He was born May 19, 1948, in Dorchester, MA, the son of the late James and Julia Farrell (Donnelly).
Dennis graduated from South Boston High School class of 1966. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged January 27, 1970. After serving in the Army, he graduated from Boston State College. He married Karen Mathey and they settled in Dorchester. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in July of 2023. He was a District Manager at the United States Postal Service in Boston for over 30 years. Dennis was an avid golfer and long-standing member of the Norfolk Golf Club in Westwood where he met and golfed regularly with lifelong friends. If he wasn't at the golf club, you could find him at the Erie Pub in Dorchester with his childhood friends and met many new friends while there.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother, James; sister, Judy (Dow); sister, Janice. Surviving in addition to his wife, Karen (Mathey) Farrell, are his son, Sean Farrell of Thornton, CO; daughter, Pamela Wolken and her husband, Mathew of Highlands Ranch, CO; granddaughter, Emma Wolken; one brother, Robert (Bob) Farrell (Patricia) of Barnstable, MA and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11AM, Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL. Those who wish to remember Dennis in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Tidewell Hospice or Veterans Associations.
