BRADENTON — Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed real estate broker and BIA treasurer Ray Turner to serve the remainder of Manatee County Commissioner Vanessa Baugh's term, following the latter's resignation. {{more}}
Turner was appointed to the Manatee County Planning Commission last November and is treasurer of the Manatee-Sarasota Building Industry Association's Board of Directors, according to the organization's website.
Turner will begin his term on Tuesday. The seat is up for election in November of 2024 and no one had filed to challenge Baugh as of Turner's appointment. Turner will represent Dist. 5, which includes Lakewood Ranch, Tara, and parts of rural east county.
