Disadvantaged businesses can learn about I-75 opportunities at meeting

Posted

Some businesses looking to land a road contract can learn about opportunities at a meeting to be held Oct. 22.

The Florida Department of Transportation said in a press release Thursday that it will host a meeting for construction contractors, small businesses and companies certified as Disadvantaged Business Enterprises to encourage the use of small businesses and DBEs on the upcoming Interstate 75 construction project in Sarasota County.

The meeting will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22, at St. John's United Methodist Church, 6611 Proctor Road, Sarasota. The presentation will outline specific project requirements, plans and subcontractor opportunities.

The upcoming I-75 construction project will include the widening and reconstruction of the roadway and bridges in Sarasota County from North River Road to S.R. 681, improvements at interchanges within the project limits, and construction of multiple stormwater facilities.

This meeting is being conducted to allow construction contractors who plan to bid on the project the opportunity to meet certified DBEs and small businesses who are qualified to perform the project work.

Anyone wishing to attend the meeting may register online, the DOT said.
