We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Donald P. Broeckel, beloved husband, father, friend, cherished member of our community, business partner, passed away peacefully at the age of 84, on March 7, 2024. He was born September 25, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Paul Broeckel and Louise (nee Whitman) Broeckel.
Don was a devoted family man. He is predeceased son, Matthew, and brother, Dale. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet; daughter, Lois; son, Michael; and four grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones.
Beyond his family, Don was a well-respected figure in the community. He was the owner of Take Aim Gun Range, a place where he fostered a passion for responsible gun ownership and marksmanship whether you were a regular customer or an out-of-town guest. Don was always attentive and compassionate to his customer's needs. With the family business atmosphere, all were included as friends. Don's dedication to safety and education made Take Aim a haven for gun enthusiasts of all levels.
Don was more than just a business owner; he was a friend who would give the shirt off his back, the mentality from his Ohio patch kid roots and his passion for cigars and good porch chats. He built strong relationships with his customers and staff, creating a warm and welcoming environment at Take Aim.
Don's absence leaves a void in our hearts, but his memory will live on. He will be remembered for his love for his family, his dedication to his business, and his genuine kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name may be made to a charity of your choice.
