Sandusky, Ohio - Dorothy Sue Franks, 94, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025 at The Parkvue Community after a brief illness.
Dorothy was born on September 6, 1930 in Lone Oak, Kentucky to the late James and Emma Victoria (Hansen) Bethel.
Dorothy was formerly of Bradenton, Florida and resided there for forty one years. She worked for the Manatee County Sheriff's Department in Florida for many years. Dorothy was a member of Clyde Baptist Church. In her spare time, she loved bingo and spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sheilah (Robert) Pope of Castalia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jimmy Wade (Gail) Turner, Johnnie Andrew Turner, Jeffrey Lynn (Teresa) Turner; great-grandchildren, Mariah Turner, Sierra (Nick) Strong, Felicia V. (Ryan) McClain and Dakota (Robbie) Baired; great-great grandchildren, Grant and Raina Strong, Samuel McClain and Maverick Baired; and two step-daughters, Donna (Gene) Simens and Judy (Mike) Taylor and several other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Sams Sr; second husband, Cliff McKee; third husband, Claude Franks; children, Robert "Bobby" E. Sams Jr.; and Melissa G. Sams; and her brother, Jimmy Bethel.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
