Dr. Allen R. Sklerov, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed physician, passed away peacefully on March 27,2025. Born on July 26, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, he was the beloved son of Harry and Lena Sklerov.

Allen was the middle child in his family, growing up with his older brother, Jerry (Gloria) and younger sister, Carole. He was predeceased by his son, Jason (Dawn), and is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Jennifer and Alison (Peter). He loved his five grandchildren -Dylan, Riley, Maureen "Maggie," Caleb, and Cameron- enjoying when they visited.

A dedicated scholar, Allen graduated from City College of New York in 1961 before earning his medical degree from NYU in 1965. He completed his internship at Bellevue Hospital, where he met the love of his life, Maureen, a nurse in the psychiatric ward. They married in 1966 and spent the next 58 years sharing a life of adventure, devotion, and love.

In 1968, Allen answered the call to serve, working as a surgeon with the 36th Evacuation Hospital in Vung Tau, Vietnam, as a Major in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he continued his medical training, completing a urology residency at the University of Kentucky from 1970 to 1973.

In 1973, Dr. Sklerov established his urology practice in Bradenton, Florida, where he dedicated 30 years to his patients at Blake and Manatee Memorial Hospitals. Upon retiring in 2003, he embraced a well-earned life filled with family, travel, and personal passions.

Allen and Maureen explored the world together, scuba diving, rafting, climbing glaciers, and embarking on safaris. His appreciation for art took them to renowned museums across the globe.

At home, Allen found joy in cooking, tending to his plants, taking dance lessons, and studying sculpture. He had a keen interest in the stock market and never missed an episode of Seinfeld. In recent years, his unwavering devotion to Maureen became even more evident as he cared for her throughout her ongoing battle with ALS, their shared love of football keeping them connected as they watched games together each weekend.

Allen will be remembered for his dedication to family, his generosity, and wisdom. He will be greatly missed.
