Dr. Linda A. Kam, a pediatrician whose compassionate care and innovative work left an indelible mark on the field of developmental and behavioral pediatrics, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on February 25, 2026, in Bradenton, FL. Born on August 10, 1944, in Buffalo, NY, Linda was a woman of intelligence, spirit, and adventure, whose life's work benefited countless children and families.

A graduate of the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine, Dr. Kam dedicated her career to the well-being and health of children. Her journey in pediatrics began in Buffalo, NY, where she practiced until her retirement in 2002. During her tenure, Linda became the assistant director of the Children's Rehabilitation Center at Buffalo's Children's Hospital. There, she was instrumental in developing an in-patient unit for chronically ill babies, leading a multidisciplinary team with empathy and expertise. Her passion for improving the lives of children with special needs was evident in every initiative she led.

Dr. Kam's contributions to pediatric medicine continued to flourish when she was recruited by the New York State Office of Mental Health. Her visionary approach resulted in the development of a school-based program for mental health as part of the Western New York Children's Psychiatric Center. For 17 years, she served as a full-time pediatrician, touching the lives of many with her knowledge and kindness until her retirement.

Beyond her professional achievements, Linda was known for her love of living on the water and for being an avid boater. She had many cherished cats over the years, who were her beloved companions.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alberta Kam, and sister to the late Charles, Dr. Joseph Jr., and George Kam. She was also a dear friend to the late Diane Reid and a loving aunt to 10 nieces and nephews and their families.

A memorial service will be held in Buffalo at a later date.
