Dr. Marlaine "Sparki" Ervay Mangels, a beloved mother and a true-life enthusiast left this world on Sept., 25th 2023. She leaves a void that can never be filled. Dr. Sparki was 71 years old.

Born on 11/20/1951, Sparki was a devoted mother to her only son, Paul, and her love and support for him knew no bounds.

Sparki was an accomplished professional. She dedicated her life to the field of Nursing and Teaching. She was a Nurse Supervisor at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY for over 20 years. She then transitioned into the teaching field after achieving her PHD from the University of Rochester, to become the Dean of Nursing at Keuka College.

One of Sparki's greatest joys in life was her connection to Keuka Lake. Whether she was spending summers on the water's edge, enjoying serene sunrises, or simply taking in the beauty of the lake, it held a special place in her heart.

Sparki touched the lives of many with her kindness, laughter, and genuine love for people. Her memory will live on through the countless stories and shared moments she leaves behind. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Dr. Marlaine "Sparki" Ervay Mangels is survived by her devoted Son, Paul Ortiz, who was the center of her world.

She is also survived by her Sister, Elaine "Chuckie" Harper and her Husband, Peter; Nephew, Michael; Niece, Denise and Husband, Jim; Great-Nieces; Abby, Megan and Madison; Nephew, John and his Wife, Nicole; Great-Nephews; Jac, Liam; and Great-Niece, Alex; her Nephew, David and his Wife, Alison; Great-Nieces; Emma, Audrey and Brynley; Her Niece, Catherine; and her Great-Nephew, Jacob; and Great-Great-Niece, Adelyn: Brother, Henry "Hank" Ervay and his Wife, Mary Gail; Nieces; Andrea and Adrienne; Step-Sister, Marianne and her Husband, Yanal Janakat. She is also survived by her Dear Friends; Sonia Liberatore, Charlie Mangels, and Kathy Jordan.

She was predeceased in death by her Mother, Marian Kramer; Step-Father, Ray Kramer; Sister, Lorraine "Louie" Connelly and Her Husband, Richard.

A Celebration of Sparki's Life will be held at a later date.

As we say our final farewells, let us remember Sparki not with tears of sorrow, but with smiles that reflect the joy she brought into our lives.
