Drew Thomas, born on August 16, 1942, in Indiana, to Bennet and Marie Druley, he passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, loyalty, and kindness that will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Drew proudly served in the United States Air Force for twenty years, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant.
Throughout his distinguished military career, Drew played an integral role in maintaining and operating Air Force One, a testament to his exceptional skills and unwavering commitment to service. His dedication extended beyond his professional life; he was known as an ambitious and considerate individual, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In addition to his military accomplishments, Drew was an accomplished musician, showcasing his artistic talent throughout his life. His love for music brought joy to his family and friends, further enriching the connections he fostered with those around him. Drew is survived by his devoted spouse, Sherrie Lynn Thomas, his stepson, James Mathison (Julia), and his cherished grandchildren, Chloe Faith and Teagon Mathison, sister-in law, Sharon Druley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Druley. He was a loyal member of his family and community, and his legacy will live on through the love and memories he shared with them.
A visitation will be held at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, located at 720 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton, FL 34205, on May 28, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The funeral service will take place the following day, May 29, 2025, at 11:30 AM, followed by a burial at Sarasota National Cemetery. In this time of mourning, the family encourages all who knew Drew to remember his unwavering devotion, his contributions to our country, and the joy he brought into the lives of many. His spirit will forever be a part of the fabric of our community.
