It is with great sadness and much love that the family of Earnest Preston Arnold announces his passing on Thursday, November 27 at the age of 91.

Ernie is lovingly remembered by his children Guy Arnold (Pam), Jeff Arnold (Kristi), Karen Natoli (Steve), Tom Dormo (Cindy), grandchildren Amy, Michael, Ricky, Karla, Brian, Jonathan, Michael, Amanda, Kyle, Griffin, Gavin, Grayson, 9 great-grandchildren, and brother Leroy (Brenda) Arnold. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Diane of 53 years, daughter Laura Lee (Tom), mother Isabelle Arnold, father Horace Preston Arnold, and sisters Mary and Jeanne. He also had several dear friends at the Grove.

Ernie grew up in Florida then relocated with his family to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army and played baseball on the championship team in Germany. Ernie began a career in the police force serving Cuyahoga Falls for 35 years as a detective, lieutenant, and captain. He also had side jobs as a plain clothes security guard at Montgomery Wards and tax preparer with H&R Block. While on police duty one evening he had a chance meeting with Diane who then became his loving wife. Together they melded their families and enjoyed camping, boating, fun-filled holidays and celebrations. Ernie retired at the age of 52 and relocated with Diane to Bradenton, Florida. He became president of his homeowner's association and kept the fun going planning group activities and adventures for the development. Ernie and Diane loved to dance, travel to Vegas, enjoy cruises, and host card parties with friends. He was also a talented stained-glass artist who created beautiful pieces for his family and friends. Ernie passed away on Thanksgiving Day one year after his wife, Diane, passed on their 53rd wedding anniversary.

A memorial service will be planned in January 2026. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Aviva Hills Assisted Living in North Canton, Ohio and Manatee Memorial Wound Care staff in Bradenton for their care and compassion.

Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209, is in charge of arrangements.
