Today marks the inaugural edition of a new product from the Bradenton Times! The TBT Weekender will publish every Friday and be sent to all of our email subscribers at no cost. Wanna get out and enjoy some of the wonderful entertainment venues in our community? We're here to let you know what's happening. From local live music to festivals, theater, stand-up comedy, and more, the TBT Weekender is your one-stop weekend entertainment guide!

Since converting from a daily publication to a weekly in 2017, we've seen tremendous growth in readership, along with a renewed demand for more areas of coverage. We here at the Times have been taking note and exploring ways in which we might provide additional value to our readers. Earlier this year, we launched the Bradenton Times Mid-Week Update to showcase our weekly podcast and put out some of the breaking news that might otherwise go stale by the time we published our Sunday edition. Our podcast will be on a brief hiatus over the summer, but we'll keep putting out midweek content and will be experimenting with some other entertainment content in that edition before it returns in the fall.

Dawn Kitterman has joined our staff and will be spearheading the TBT Weekender, while also doing some additional reporting for us in our other editions. Dawn impressed Times readers with her recent long-form piece on Piney Point (click here to read), and her passion for live local music makes her a natural fit for this new product.

We've also moved obituaries to the Weekender and have expanded our coverage to include additional funeral homes. While obits will no longer run in our Sunday edition or appear as news articles on the homepage, as in the past, they will still run in a sidebar feed and be available from the tab on the top of the homepage, which will take you directly to the obit section.

Local government, public policy, and the politics that drive both will continue to be our primary focus at the Bradenton Times, but we will continue to attempt to provide our readership with all kinds of additional information they might find useful, especially when we notice a lack of coverage in other local publications. Florida is open and the local artists and venues that have suffered through the pandemic need our support more than ever. So, now that it's time to get back to life, tune in to the TBT Weekender each Friday to find out what's happening over the weekend!
