Bradenton, Florida - Edward R. Pedersen, 93, passed away on March 15, 2025, in Bradenton, FL.
Born on February 8, 1932, Edward grew up in Burlington, MA, where he graduated from Burlington High School in 1949. During his school years, he played football and basketball alongside his uncle, Jimmy Petersen. After high school, he joined the National Guard before being drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps. He trained at Parris Island and San Diego before serving in the Korean War as part of the Third Division, Company O, where he was responsible for rebuilding bridges for the troops.
Following his military service in 1954, Edward became a self-employed painter. His passion for restoration led him to purchase and renovate an 1800s farmhouse, which he and his wife, Marjoria Evelan Miller, transformed into the History House Bed and Breakfast. Over the course of thirty years, they welcomed numerous guests, including musicians from the Lawrence Welk Show and entertainer Sonny James, who performed at the Topsfield Fairgrounds. Marjoria's cooking and hospitality made their bed and breakfast a cherished retreat for visitors.
Edward had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing the accordion. He found joy in painting ocean scenes and had a passion for outdoor adventures, including boating, fishing, and camping around the country with Marjoria. He also treasured time spent at his camp in West Swansea, NH. A devoted motorcyclist, he loved riding his BMW motorcycle. Edward's last great adventure was traveling to Norway in 2019 to see relatives and tour the countryside.
A man of faith, Edward served as an elder in the Braden River Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He is survived by his son Edward Taranto (Judy), foster son Jerry Bagley, granddaughters Danielle Taranto and Rachel Taranto, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Helen Pedersen; wife Marjoria; foster children Crystal and Dwight Bagley; and siblings Mabel, Helen, Greta, and Harold.
