BRADENTON -- Former Florida House Rep. Bill Galvano (R) easily defeated first-time candidate Paula House (D) 61-38 percent to win the State Senate District 26 seat vacated by Michael Bennett, who was prevented from running for reelection by term limits. Galvano was not only a popular legislator, but was able to raise more than 25 times more campaign cash than his grass roots opponent. Galvano raised $550,000, while House managed to gather just over $18,000.
