BRADENTON -- Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) easily fended off a challenge from Congressman Connie Mack IV to earn his third term in the United States Senate. Mack relied almost exclusively on negative campaigning that attempted to tie Nelson to the policies of President Obama, but it wasn't enough to catch the popular moderate, who has a large base of independent support. The AP called the race at around 8 p.m. with Nelson 57-41 with 21 precincts reporting.
