BRADENTON -- In a repeat of the 2012 Republican Primary, State Rep. Greg Steube easily fended off a challenge from Bob McCann, who this time ran as an independent. Steube brought all of the advantages of incumbency, including a large campaign war chest. The freshman legislator, who is the son of Manatee County Sheriff Brad Steube, raised just under $124,000 to McCann's $18,000. In one of the biggest margins of state legislator races, Steube defeated McCann by 48 points, 74-26 percent.
