January 2, 1929 - January 20, 2024
Bradenton, Florida - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth "Betty" Giltner.
She left us on January 20, 2024, to reunite with her loving husband, Tom, her brothers and sister and her many friends who passed before her. She was born in Grand Prairie, Alberta Canada, to Bill and Dessie Abel.
When she was six months old, the family moved back to their home state of Indiana, where she would meet the love of her life, Tom Giltner. After Tom returned from WWII, the high school sweethearts married in 1947.
In 1951, they moved their growing family to Florida to get away from the cold. They raised their children in Bradenton and ran several businesses. She was the owner of Honey Bee's Clothing Stores, and later they both owned and operated River Lady Package & Lounge. Her warm smile and happy persona will be missed by family, friends and former patron's.
She is survived by daughters, Burma Register and Shelly Giltner; son, Mike (Vickie), and grandchildren, Tasha, Jared, Brandy (Sam), Cody (Shea), Lacy (Chris), Ashley (Chad), and her great-grandchildren, Camden, Wesley, Cami J, J.T., Kinley Blair, Haley and Declan.
A Memorial Service will be held 1 PM, February 3, 2024, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her memory and sent to: The Haven, 4405 Desoto Road, Sarasota, FL 34235. Donations in her name, may be made to www.thehavensrq.org.
