Enjoy a Lizard-Themed Night at Bradenton

Posted

This month's Reels at Rossi Park pays tribute to Bradenton GeckoFest 2010 with a preview party of the new batch of geckos up for auction followed by a showing of the largest and most popular lizard in film history - Godzilla.

The GeckoFest preview party will take place from 5-8 p.m. this Friday at Rossi Park near the clocktower. Stop by and check out the dozens of decorated geckos that will be up for auction during GeckoFest on May 1. This is the third, bi-annual GeckoFest, a fund-raiser for the arts in Manatee County. Visit www.bradentongeckofest.org for more information.

A showing of the 1998 film Godzilla (edited-for-TV version), starring Mathew Broderick, will begin at sundown on a three-story, inflatable movie screen. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and find a comfortable place to sit, or anchor your boat nearby and watch the movie from the river.

The event also will feature the Pittsburgh Pirates Speed Pitch booth from 6-9 p.m., music and refreshments for sale.

Free Parking is available at Rossi Park and on the first two floors of the Promenade Parking Garage, and there is additional parking throughout downtown. Rossi Park is located in downtown Bradenton on Third Avenue West between Ninth Avenue West and U.S. 301.

The major sponsors of Bradenton GeckoFest 2010 are Geico, Bradenton Herald and Bright House.

Reels at Rossi Park is a Realize Bradenton event. Visit www.realizebradenton.com for more information.
