FDOT plans $23.6 million in roadwork in 2010-11

A draft report from the Florida Department of Transportation shows more than $163 million in work that's in some stage of a process through the middle of the decade.

 

The biggest plans are in the 2012-13 fiscal year, when there will be more than $58 million in work on projects in Manatee County. Projects on the streets and highways, at and around Port Manatee, and public transportation are listed. Click here to see the complete report (494kb PDF file).

 

The following projects are in the works for the 2010/11 fiscal year, according to the DOT. The county total is nearly $23.6 million. Several are multi-year projects:

 

Highways

  • Adding left turn lanes at 10th Avenue West: Current phase is construction, total cost is $800,000.

  • Reimbursement for traffic signals in Bradenton: Current phase is operations, total cost is $57,000.

  • Bradenton sidewalks to schools: Current phase is construction, total cost is $521,900.

  • Bike path/trail at Snead Island Pathway at Emerson Point Park: Construction phase, cost is $625,000.

  • Intersection work at Haben Boulevard at Riviera Dunes: Construction phase, cost is $367,000.

  • Reimbursement for traffic signals in Holmes Beach: Operations phase, cost is $4,000.

  • Installation of a cable barrier from I-75 to the Skyway bridge: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $55,000; Design Build phase cost is $1.58 million.

  • Tampa Bay Sunguide Phase IV from I-275 to the Hillsborough County line: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $40,000.

  • Reimbursement for traffic signals in Palmetto: Operations phase, cost is $19,000.

  • Signing and pavement markings, including 20 mph school zone signs along various school frontages: Construction phase, cost is $349,362.

  • Resurfacing State Road 64 from Wingate Road East to Hardee County line: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $50,000.

  • Adding lanes and reconstruction of State Road 64 from west of Carlton Arms Boulevard to I-75, Right of way phase, cost is a little more than $4 million.

  • Resurfacing State Road 64 from east of Lorraine Road to west of County Road 675: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $50,000.

  • Resurfacing State Road 64 from 15th Street West to 10th Street West: Construction phase, cost is $627,465.

  • Railroad crossing reconstruction on eastbound State Road 64 from Sixth Street West to Third Street West in Bradenton: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $50,000.

  • Traffic signal update on State Road 684 at 43rd Street West: Construction phase, cost is $411,223.

  • Modification of intersection of State Road 70 and Lockwood Ridge Road: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $95,434.

  • Resurfacing of State Road 70 from east of Lorraine Road to County Road 675/Waterbury Road: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $50,000.

  • Reconstruction of crossing on State Road 70 from 17th Street Court to 18th Street in Bradenton: Preliminary engineering, cost is $50,000.

  • Repair and rehabilitation of bridge on State Road 789 from north of Northshore Road to south of Coquina Park: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $153,777.

  • Reimbursement of traffic signals for Manatee County: Operations phase, cost is $137,000.

  • Preliminary engineering for future capacity of U.S. 301 from County Road 675 to Moccasin Wallow Road: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $1.775 million.

  • Replacing temporary median curb with raised concrete median at intersection of U.S. 301 and Colony Cove Drive: Construction phase, cost is $197,106.

  • Modification of intersection at U.S. 41 and State Road 70: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $65,437; right of way phase, cost is $309,000.

  • Crossing reconstruction of U.S. 41 from 73rd Street to 85th Street East: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $50,000.

  • Modification of intersection at U.S. 41 and 57th Avenue West: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $70,375; right of way phase, cost is $282,000.

  • Resurfacing of U.S. 41 from south of 301 Boulevard to south of 23rd Avenue: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $100,000.

 

Miscellaneous

  • Partial demolition of South Skyway Fishing Pier's east side: Preliminary engineering phase, cost is $45,000; construction phase, cost is $1.8 million.

 

Seaport

  • South channel access dredging project: Capital improvement phase, cost is $1.5 million.

  • Capital improvements project for seaport capacity: Capital improvement phase, cost is $290,000.

 

Transit

  • MCAT capital for fixed route: Capital improvement phase, cost is $1.97 million.

  • MCAT operating assistance for fixed route: Operations phase, cost is $1.45 million.

  • Sidewalks to schools at various locations in north Manatee County: Construction phase, cost is $383,278.
