BRADENTON – The Washington Nationals picked up SCF pitcher Jackson Tetreault Tuesday in the 7th round of the Major League Baseball draft, the second SCF Manatee drafted. Three more players were drafted Wednesday, the busiest day of the draft.
They are Keshawn Lynch, drafted in the 14th round by the Arizona Diamondbacks; Ryan Karstetter, drafted in the 19th round by the Detroit Tigers; and Reilly Johnson, drafted in the 30th round by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Tetreault, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Ruskin, is 6’-5“ and 170 pounds. He had 105 strikeouts in 80.1 innings pitched at SCF. His signature performance with the Manatees came in a 7-0 victory over St. Petersburg College on April 7, when he tossed a career-high 8.1 innings and tallied a career-best 12 strikeouts.
Lynch, a 5’-9“, sophomore infielder from Haines City, had the third highest batting average on the team with .341 batting average. He also was responsible for 36 RBIs for the season.

Karstetter, a 6’-4“, 215-pound sophomore infielder, led the Manatees with a .363 batting average. The transfer from University of Virginia, also led the team in total hits, doubles, triples, and RBIs. Karstetter was a first team member of the Suncoast All-Conference team. He was high school standout at IMG Academy, where he was named all-state and his team was ranked No. 1 in Florida.
Johnson, a 5’-9“, sophomore catcher from Lake Wales, had a .343 batting average at SCF, second on the team. He was consistent behind the plate and posted a .994 fielding percentage. He was named the Suncoast Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Johnson was a first team member of the Suncoast All-Conference team.
In addition, two Manatees baseball alumni were selected in the draft this week. Ryan Miller, an SCF Manatee who transferred to Clemson University last year, was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 31st round and Ryan Valdes a right-handed pitcher who competed at University of South Florida, was picked up by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 33rd round.
SCF Manatees baseball has a tradition of sending players to the Major Leagues. Alumni include Major League Baseball players Nick Goody, Matt Maloney, Callix Crabbe and Gus Schlosser. Teams have appeared in 46 state tournaments in 59 years of playing baseball.
