BRADENTON — The Board of Directors of the Florida Housing Finance Corporation (Florida Housing) have elected Bernard “Barney” Smith of Jacksonville to serve as Chair of the Board. Smith is president of The Smith & Young Company, located in Fleming Island, Florida.
Smith has more than 20 years of experience, as he has served both the Jacksonville Housing Commission and the Jacksonville Housing Finance Authority.
In June 2011, Smith was appointed by Governor Rick Scott as one of two citizen representatives on Florida Housing’s Board of Directors.
“Chair Smith has a wealth of knowledge regarding affordable housing in the State of Florida,” said Steve Auger, executive director for Florida Housing. “His dedication and hard work during his tenure is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to his continued service as the new chair of this Board for the coming year.”
