Palmetto, Florida - Floyd Eugene McDole, 79, of Palmetto, passed away on October 10, 2023. He was born on June 7, 1944. Floyd was a generous and kind-hearted individual, known for his warm personality. He was survived by his daughter, Tricia McDole, and his granddaughters, Colie and Mollie McDole. He is also survived by his sister, Judith (Dennis) of Punta Gorda, FL, and two brothers, David (Susan Timmons) of Battle Ground, IN, and Donald (Debra) of Lafayette, IN. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Gail McDole, as well as his parents, Marguerite and Wilbur McDole.
Floyd served in the US Marine Corps from 1963 to 1967. After his military service, he began his career in marketing at Mutual of New York in Norfolk, VA, eventually becoming an assistant manager. In 1975, he moved to Florida and joined Southern Culvert in Pinellas Park as an outside salesman, covering the west coast of Florida. He retired from Southern Culvert in 2010.
Floyd was an active member of the community and dedicated his time to various organizations. He volunteered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Sarasota, The Boys Club, the Republican Party of Charlotte County, and served as a board member of a non-profit organization that built homes for low-income citizens. He was also a Guardian ad litem in Manatee County and volunteered in the classroom at Palmetto Charter School.
Floyd's Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church in Palmetto, Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to 1st Baptist Church of Palmetto.
