FT. MYERS – The Fort Myers Miracle (16-10) collected a 6-2 win over the Marauders (14-12) on Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium. Fort Myers swept the three-game series, sending the Marauders home on a three-game losing streak. The Marauders went 2-6 on the eight game road trip.
Tyler Glasnow (L, 0-1) struggled out of the gate in his second start of the season. The righty walked four batters in the first inning, forcing in a run with his two-out walk to Adam Brett Walker. Glasnow was able to strand the bases loaded, but issued two more walks in the second inning and allowed Max Kepler to score on a balk to extend the Miracle advantage to 2-0. Pat Ludwig replaced Glasnow on the hill after a leadoff walk to Dalton Hicks in the third, Glasnow’s seventh of the game.
The Marauders trimmed the lead to 2-1 in the fourth against Brett Lee (W, 3-1). Adam Frazier singled, advanced to second on a pitch in the dirt, moved to third on a base hit by Josh Bell, and scored on Eric Wood’s ground out to second base. Lee pitched seven innings, allowing two runs and striking out five. The Fort Myers defense aided Lee greatly, as shortstop Jorge Polanco threw out two runners at the plate. Bradenton plated its second run in the seventh, with Jordan Steranka doubling to left and later scoring on a sacrifice fly by Max Moroff.
Ludwig pitched five innings, allowing all three of his runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on four hits. Jhondaniel Medina surrendered one run in the eighth inning. Brian Gilbert picked up a six out save for the Miracle, striking out five of the seven batters he faced.
Frazier went 3-for-4 for the Marauders. Bell has two hits.
The Marauders return home to play a three game series against the St. Lucie Mets, starting Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. Chad Kuhl will be on the mound for the Marauders. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
