It's November, and that's when your property taxes begin to be due, though people with a mortgage usually count on their mortgage holder to pay them out of escrow.
Still, if a look at your property tax bill makes you want to howl and scream at the County Commission or Property Appraiser, consider this: you're paying a lot less than some people.
Florida Power & Light paid a bit more than $11.8 million in taxes, to lead the top 10 taxpayer list in Manatee County for the 2009 tax year. Right behind was Tropicana Products Inc. at a little more than $5.8 million and Gulfstream Natural Gas System LLC at a tad more than $2.6 million.
