Francis (Frank) A Rizzo of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Rices Landing, Pa. passed away peacefully November 4, 2024.

He was born November 24,1939 in Johnstown, PA the only son of the late Michael and Catherine Paonessa Rizzo. Frank graduated from Johnstown High School and Shepherd College (University) where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and served as the chaplain. He continued his education at West Virginia University and California University in the graduate programs.

Frank was an educator with the Carmichaels Area School District where he was instrumental in developing the first Head Start Program in Greene County. He also taught with the Greater Johnstown School District and after over thirty years of teaching, he retired from Central Greene School District.

After retiring, he was employed by Laidlaw and First Student where he continued to positively impact the lives of children. He also worked for Wyeth Pharmaceutical and the Youth Development Center. Frank served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Brooks Cargo Post #816 of Rices Landing.

He was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as a liturgist, former secretary for Rices Landing Bourgh Council, Cub Scout Leader, and a member NEA and PSEA. Frank enjoyed his daily walks and always appreciated the beauty of nature.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. He had an amusing sense of humor. It has been said that he had a song for every occasion. After retiring, he and his wife relocated to Bradenton, Florida. They truly appreciate reuniting with old friends and meeting all the new friends in their community that soon became extended family. Greene County always remained close in their thoughts, and they treasured their fond memories of the wonderful friendships.

Surviving is his wife Johnsie Porter Rizzo: three sons and their wives Michael and Michelle, Frank and Meredith, and Nick and Tami, six grandchildren Dominic, Natalie Rizzo White, Reagan, Frank III, Emerson and Reese Rizzo and two step grandchildren. Also, two sisters Patti Sullivan and husband Bill, Nancie Pajan and husband Jack plus several nieces and nephews. Deceased are his parents and a sister Amelia "Chic" and her husband Donnie Verbano. In memory of Frank..Always remember to provide support for children, share a meal and enjoy a sunset.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday November 23, 2024, at St. Hugh Catholic Church, 408 PA-88, Carmichaels, PA 15320. Interment will follow at Greene County Cemetery. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West, Bradenton, Florida, is in charge of arrangements.
