Posted

BRADENTON –On Monday, The FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training announced its line-up for next season. From a thrilling Mamet adventure to a Shakespearean comedy, the students of the elite graduate program will have plenty of chances to show off their dramatic chops.

In October and November 2014, Asolo Rep and the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training will once again present the New Stages Tour, which features third-year Conservatory students. The New Stages Tour brings condensed, new adaptations of classic literature to schools and community venues throughout the state of Florida. This season's production will be Shakespeare's magical romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The season will then kick off on November 5 with David Mamet's The Water Engine, a dark drama story of an industrious inventor who creates an engine that runs on water, and finds himself the victim of nightmarish persecution by mysterious figures from the oil industry.

The season will continue December 31 with Shakespeare's beloved comedy As You Like it, a brilliant comedy that will be performed by the entire company of second-year Conservatory students.

Jeff Bowen's musical sensation Title of the Show hits the stage February 18. This hilarious and often bittersweet play focuses on two struggling young artists and their two friends who race to write a successful piece in just three weeks, resulting in the very musical the audience is seeing!

Closing out the season, Anton Chekhov’s brilliant portrait of a society poised on the verge of the 20th century, The Cherry Orchard, will be directed by Andrei Malaev-Babel and opens April 8.For more information visit the Asolo Rep website.
