George Thomas Pappas, 90, of Bradenton, Florida passed away early Sunday morning, January 11, 2026. Born on September 24, 1935, in Muse, Pennsylvania, George's life was a testament to the values of dedication, service, and family.
George graduated from Cory High School in 1953. He proudly served in the United States Marines and was recognized as a Marine Sharpshooter, a distinction that spoke to his focus and discipline. George embarked on a successful career at ITT Automotive in New Lexington, Ohio, where he retired after 25 years. His professional achievements were matched by his dedication to community service, as he was a 56-year member of the New Lexington Elks BPOE Lodge #509.
A Greek Orthodox by faith, George lived his life embodying the principles of love and charity. His interests extended to the green fairways, where, as an avid golfer he enjoyed participating in tournaments and relishing the camaraderie of fun Saturday morning rounds with friends. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan and looked forward to football season every year. George's love for people was evident in his infectious laughter, and his readiness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
George's legacy is carried forward by his beloved wife, Madelyn Joyce Pappas, his daughter Rebecca Pappas, and son George Pappas. Though preceded in death by his daughters Sherry Pappas Spohn and Cynthia Pappas Barragan, stepdaughter Ten Herbst, granddaughter Olivia Wamsley, and grandson Thomas Spohn, his spirit lives on through his stepdaughter Adele Allen, grandchildren Marisa, Sergio and Melissa Barragan, step-grandchildren Jessica Barbieri, Tatum Dennis, Lane Allen, as well as several great-grandchildren and a cherished great great-grandson.
His kindness and love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Ceremony to be announced.
