Gerald J. Cahalan passed away on June 16, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida. He was born on July 15, 1936, in Lee, Massachusetts, the eldest child of James and Beatrice Waters Cahalan.

He was married to Mary Puma for 62 years. Together they raised two sons, Gerald Jr., and Michael (Kim). He was a proud grandfather to Claudia and Kyle, and a great-grandfather to Anthony.

Gerry was the oldest of 16 siblings. His surviving brothers and sisters include Merrill (Rose), David (Jane), Thomas (Linda), Dennis (Judy Vehovic), Keith (Lisa), Jeffrey, Judy, Holly (Harry McLeod), and Kay (Gary). He was predeceased by his siblings Donna, Ronnie, Kevin, Milton, and Mark.

He is also survived by his aunt, Pat Messer, and his sister-in-law, Mabel Bailey.

Gerry had a long and fulfilling career at Mead Specialty Paper, where he worked for 38 years, including 35 years as a color matcher. He completed a degree in Industrial Paper Technology and was known for his dedication, fairness, and integrity. He also served the town of Lee as a Weights and Measures officer for 25 years.

In addition to his professional work, Gerry was active in his community. He served on the Board of Directors for Sugar Creek Estates for 10 years and was President of Lee Sportsman's Club for six years.

A proud U.S. Marine, Gerry had a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and camper, especially enjoying time spent at his favorite camping spot on Lake Ontario. He loved sports, nature, and everything outdoors.

Gerry will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and commitment to his family, community, and country.
