BRADENTON - Police work above and beyond his duties as a patrol officer enabled Bradenton Police Officer Jay Gow to seize guns and drugs, and to be honored as the Officer of the Month for September.

The city said in a press release that Gow, in his investigations, wrote one arrest warrant and three search warrants. In these warrants he seized two loaded firearms, one of which was stolen in a burglary, two marijuana plants, more than a quarter-pound of marijuana, some powder cocaine, ecstasy, xanax and paraphernalia.

He also made three arrests from these warrants, the release said.

His supervisor, Lt. Nancy Castellow, commended Gow for his work ethic and self-motivation.

Gow has worked for the Police Department since 1996, and is assigned to Patrol Operations.
