It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Swilley, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend. Gregory peacefully departed this life on May 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and laughter.
Born on August 4, 1965, to Jessie Thomas and Johnnie Swilley, Gregory faced life's challenges with unwavering determination and a resilient spirit. Despite being a disabled man, he never let anything hinder his drive to support himself. Gregory was known for his resourcefulness and entrepreneurial spirit, always finding creative ways to raise money for himself, demonstrating his independence and unwavering spirit.
Gregory had a gift for making friends wherever he went. His infectious humor and warm personality could light up any room. No matter the circumstance, he knew how to lift spirits and bring smiles to those around him. His laughter and kindness touched the hearts of many, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Thomas and Johnnie Swilley.
He is survived by his loving children: Shadaryl Swilley, Jammal Swilley, Gregory Swilley Jr., Nigel Swilley Sr. (& wife Ashley), Teresa Gavin, and Cicley Hicks. His grandchildren-Moises Carrasquillo Jr., Gianni Carrasquillo, Ja'dyn Carrasquillo, Xio'mara Samuel, Ka'Liyahh Carnegie, Kaelynn Swilley, Xavier Swilley, Saniya Swilley, Khalil Swilley, Nigel Swilley Jr., Niellie Swilley, Nilajay Swilley, and Rheyana Hamilton-were a source of immense pride and joy in his life. His beloved siblings Sandra Grant (& husband Larry), Myra Nelson, Elijah Swilley (& wife Angela), Tanoka Dumas (& Husband James), and Tawannna Tabor (& husband Darrell).
Gregory's legacy is one of resilience, humor, and love. His life was a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of bringing joy to others. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his generous spirit and infectious laughter.
