Helen Doris Sheldon, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of Christ, peacefully entered into the presence of her Savior at the age of 92. Born on March 6, 1933 in Fergus Falls MN to Doris Whitney and Elmer Huffman, Helen lived a life defined by unwavering faith, steadfast love, and a heart fully committed to serving others.
On May 12, 1956, Helen married the love of her life, David Sheldon. Together they built a strong and enduring marriage of 69 beautiful years—a living testament to grace, commitment, and mutual devotion. Their love served as a foundation for a family that she cherished deeply.
Helen is survived by her devoted husband David; her daughters Paula Hoover and her husband Brent, Pam Sheldon; her son David Sheldon and his wife Anne; her treasured brother Bob Huffman and his wife Kathy; five grandchildren who brought her immense joy, Kendall (Mitchell), Daniel (Kate), Zachary, David (Lauren) and Luke; and one great-grandchild, Eli, whose lives she touched even before their first memories were made.
She is preceded in death by her father Elmer Huffman and Doris Whitney and her cherished siblings David Huffman, Earl Huffman, Jean Westfall and Edna Kawlewski. Their reunions in heaven are surely filled with joy and laughter once again.
Helen lived a life poured out in service. A devoted member of her church, she led with quiet strength and fierce compassion. Through her involvement in Child Evangelism Fellowship, years of teaching Sunday School, and her deep participation in the church community, Helen shepherded young hearts toward Christ and offered comfort and wisdom to those in need. She saw people—their stories, their wounds, their worth—and loved them well. Her life was a living reflection of Jesus’ love: patient, kind, selfless, and enduring.
She loved large—whether that meant opening her home, her heart, or simply giving someone her undivided attention. Her faith was not only a belief but a way of life, and it left a legacy that will echo through generations.
Helen’s family and friends grieve her passing deeply, but they rejoice in knowing that she has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Her impact on this world is immeasurable, her memory eternal, and her love ever-present in the hearts of those she left behind.
