Helen M. Winkler

Posted

Helen M. Winkler, 85, passed peacefully in the care of Tidewell Hospice on Monday, July 17, 2023. A longtime resident of Bradenton and Palmetto, Helen Winkler was born in McKeesport, PA and relocated to Florida in 1987.

Helen’s favorite hobbies were crochet and people-watching and she could often be found enjoying a margarita at Happy Hour. In her estimation, this was one of the few occasions necessitating the donning of shoes that was truly worth the hassle; she lived life on her own time and terms and preferred to dispense with footwear whenever possible.

Widowed in 2019 to husband of 62 years, Robert Winkler and having recently been predeceased by her daughter, Janet Russell of Parrish, Helen is survived by four of her children, Glenn (Mary) Winkler of Slippery Rock, PA; Beth Stull of Palmetto, FL; Lori Henderson of Bradenton, FL and Jeff (Patty) Winkler of Racine, WI; as well as her son-in-law, Rick Russell; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She viewed motherhood as her greatest accomplishment and loved spending time with her family.

No Services will be held at this time. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family requests in lieu of standard condolences, donations be sent to Tidewell Hospice and if you find yourself at Happy Hour, raise a margarita toast to Helen’s memory.
