How to Find MCSD Bus Stop Info

Posted

BRADENTON –  With school set to start on Monday, August 18, 2014, parents and students need to know where their bus stops will be located. The district’s Bus Transportation Department is helping parents and students obtain that information in several ways.

First of all, the school district is sending out postcards identifying student bus stops to the more than 16,000 students who will use bus transportation this school year. Parents should be on the lookout for the postcards, because they should be arriving soon, said Sheryl Riker, Director of School Bus Transportation for Manatee District Schools. If parents have not received a postcard by Wednesday, August 13th, there are two additional ways to learn where your child’s bus stop will be located.

The first is to go on the school district’s website. Near the top of the home page, there is a rotating set of stories and back-to-school information. When you see the photo of the school bus, click on that photo and it will take you to a page that will help you find your child’s bus stop. You will need to put in your child’s grade and your address, then click on the “Find School/Transportation Info” button and it will show you the school your child is zoned to attend and the location of the bus stop.

“It is important to know that the website bus stop locater is only for students who plan to attend the school to which they are zoned,” Ms. Riker said. “If a student is using school choice to attend another school, attending a charter school or any school other than their zoned school, the bus stop would be different.”

If parents have any additional questions, they can call School Bus Transportation at 782-1BUS or 782-1287. The district will have a phone bank set up to take calls leading to up to the start of school.
