Inaugural Local Movie Festival set for Next Month

BRADENTON – The Bradenton Arts Movieville Film Festival will bring a dose of glitz and glamor town this May. With plenty of special events, along with an impressive slate of interesting and meaningful films, the festival is sure to add considerable kick to the Friendly City's Arts & Culture Scene.

This film festival will take full advantage of the new Manatee Performing Arts Center on the Bradenton riverfront. All but the festival's opening night film – which will screen at the South Florida Museum – will be shown at one of the facilities two venues.

The festival kicks off Thursday May 8 with a grand opening reception at the Powell-Crosley Estate. That Saturday, there will also be a ShoBiz Expo networking event at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, followed by a “Legends of Country and Rock” concert.

Wednesday, May 14, There will be a Sunset Tiki Cocktail Party, honoring SCF film students & women in entertainment at Tarpon Point, and that Friday there will be a BAMFF Party on Main Street featuring live music and other entertainment.

Screenings kick off on Thursday, May 15 at the South Florida Museum with Heart of the Shore, a documentary about Hurricane Sandy. Screenings than continue at the Manatee Performing Arts Center through the weekend, with the closing gala set for the DaVinci Exhibition in the Bradenton Municipal Auditorium on Sunday, May 18 from 6:30–10 p.m.
