Today we celebrate the vibrant life of Jack Alfored Smith, a man whose laughter and generosity touched the lives of everyone he met. Born on July 28, 1935, in the town of Kingsport, Tennessee, Jack's journey on Earth came full circle as he peacefully passed away on July 4, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida. His story is one painted with love, joy, and the countless hearts he warmed along his path.

Jack was the cherished son of Melvin and Dessie Smith, growing alongside his loving siblings: Ed Smith, Dolly Dishner, Rob Smith, Betty Shacklee, Jay Smith, and Joan Nichols. Love was the essence of his being and shone brightest within the walls of his own family being married for 50 years to his wonderful wife Audrey M. Smith. He also instilled his values in his children, Rick Smith and Melissa Wolf, and witnessed his legacy continue through his grandchildren: Mike Little, Kristen Little, Nickie Smith, and Emily Smith. His great-grandchildren, Blake, Alyssa, Alexis, Preston, Lilly, and Rylan, and several great-great grandchildren each carried a spark of his spirit, and his story will be retold by generations to come.

Professionally, Jack was as hardworking as he was in his personal life. He worked at a foundry in Belvidere, IL, and when he wasn't mastering molten metal, he was flipping houses before flipping houses was cool. Jack could take a rundown shack and turn it into a place fit for a king-or at least comfortable enough for renters or new homeowners to start new beginnings.

Jack's service in the National Guard was another chapter in his life, one where his sense of duty and honor shone through.

Jack's zest for life was contagious, and his interests captivated all who joined him. Whether it was casting a line into the calm waters on a fishing trip, exploring new destinations, reveling in the thrill of a good find while shopping, or savoring the flavors of a well-cooked meal, Jack did it all with a sense of adventure and a smile on his face.

The gatherings he hosted were legendary - a testament to his love for bringing people together. The sound of laughter at parties and family get-togethers will echo in the hearts of his friends and family forever, a melody of the great symphony he composed with his life.

Jack's loving, generous and funny spirit is celebrated by all who knew him. His generosity knew no bounds, and his humor was the light in any room. His life was truly well-lived, with fond recollections of time spent with him will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of his family and friends.

Thank you, Jack, for the unforgettable journey and the precious memories you've gifted to the world. Your legacy is eternal, resounding in the lives you've shaped and the laughter you've shared. Until the tales of the fish that got away, and the warmth of every embrace meet again in the hearts of those you've left behind. Cheers to you, Jack, for a life superbly lived.
