Today, we remember and celebrate the life of James L. "Jim" Green, a remarkable individual whose generosity and selfless nature left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Born on December 28, 1927, in Chauncey, Illinois, to the late Ausby and Florence Shank Green, Jim was a beacon of gentle strength throughout his 98 years. He passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, in Bradenton, Florida, with his niece and loving healthcare staff, cherishing the time they had together.

Jim's early life in Illinois laid a solid foundation for a future filled with achievements and contributions. His academic pursuit led him to the University of Illinois at Champaign, where he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. This was just the beginning of what would become a storied career spanning over five decades in the communications industry. Jim proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy, a testament to patriotism and family commitment to service and country.

Professionally, Jim's leadership and expertise were unparalleled. He was a visionary in the communications field, taking on the role of President and CEO at PECO II, Inc. As one of the founders and a director since 1988, he played a pivotal role in the company's success. His tenure included serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors and guiding the company through various stages of growth and evolution. Beyond PECO II, Jim's career included influential positions at the Power Equipment Company, North Electric Company, and ITT. His international impact was felt during his time as President and Chief Executive Officer of NovAtel Communications, Ltd., in Calgary, Canada, where his management consultancy left a lasting legacy.

Jim's life was not solely defined by his professional accomplishments. He was a family man through and through, finding joy and purpose in the bonds of kinship. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Marjorie Green of California, and a host of adoring nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Janet Williams Green, as well as his siblings, Ruhama Jane Green Doty, Patricia Green Gresham, Bruce Green, and Lowell Green.

At the age of 13, Jim was baptized into Christ. Those who knew Jim would describe him as a generous soul, a person who gave without expecting anything in return. His gentle demeanor was a comfort to all, and his selfless actions spoke volumes of his character. Jim created his own donations by assisting hurricane victims his way to forming the Green Family college scholarship in Illinois.

Jim Green's story is one of impact, integrity, and inspiration. His legacy will continue to live on in the many lives he touched, both personally and professionally. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we do so with gratitude for the time we were privileged to share with him and the lessons he imparted. Jim Green's journey through life was one marked by dedication, love, and a profound commitment to making a difference in the world. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain a guiding light to all who had the honor of knowing him.
