James Loyd Holloman

James Loyd Holloman, 88, of Bradenton, Fl., passed away on September 21, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family after losing his battle with cancer.

He was born on May 20, 1934, in Goldsboro, NC, to Pauline (Eldridge) Gillins and Cedric Holloman. He resided in NC until he graduated from High school, after which he moved to New York City, NY. He lived there until his admission into the Air Force in 1955. He served in the Air Force for 20 years, serving 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1976, after which he lived in Plattsburgh and then Saranac, NY.

After James' retirement from the Air Force, he worked for New York State Dept of Corrections at the Juvenile Corrections facility in Peru, NY for 20 years. He attended Clinton Community College and then Plattsburgh State University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree. James started an accounting business after his graduation from college and retirement from NYS DOC. He relocated to Bradenton, FL in 1999 and resided there until his passing.

James was an avid Aeromodeller and pilot, building and flying Radio Controlled airplanes for many years. He was a member of the Plattsburgh Radio Aeromodellers Club and the Manatee County Radio Control club. He was serving as President of MCRC at the time of his passing. James was a friend to all who met him and was loved by many.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; his first wife, Ruth Holloman and his second wife, Laura Long-Holloman. He is survived by his daughter, Lynette Oakes and his step children, William (Deborah) Long, Suzanne (Peter) Niforos, Laurie Morse, Darlene Long, Allison Long and Jamison Long; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

James will be honored in a Celebration of life 11 AM Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel, 5624 26th Street West Bradenton, FL 34207. A reception will follow at the same location after memories of his life have been shared. A Memorial will also be held at VFW Post 20, Quarry Rd. Plattsburgh, NY, where Military Honors will be given for James. Food will be served following the memorial service at the same location.
